Who are we?
Generous Hands, Inc. is a small non-profit organization whose goal is to assist children and their families through difficult times within the Kalamazoo County area.
What do we provide?
To supplement the weekend nutritional needs of children in need, the Friday Pack Program began in the fall of 2004.
What is a Friday Pack?
Friday Packs are numbered backpacks filled with nutritional easy to fix foods such as:
Protein items - canned meat, peanut butter, pasta Breakfast foods - cereal, oatmeal, muffins Juice Fruit cups and/or fresh fruits/vegetables Kid-friendly snacks - granola bars, raisins, etc.
How does a child get a Friday Pack?
- A teacher makes a confidential referral to the school office.
- The office sends home a parent information packet including a permission slip.
- The child is then assigned a number.
- Children then pick up their numbered pack at the end of the day on Friday.
- All packs are returned on Monday to be filled for the next Friday if needed.
